Do you love the Smith River?
Each year, thousands of people apply to enter the annual Montana FWP lottery to float the Smith River in central Montana. But only a lucky few get to float this majestic river.
Were you were lucky enough to draw your Smith River Permit this year? Or have you floated it in years past? Or did you miss out again this yea (…sigh…) and just dreaming about when you’ll get your chance?
We’ve got a new map, just for you! For the past year we’ve been quietly working on our brand new map of Smith River boat camps, and it’s finally here!
Smith River Map
Our high resolution Smith River map provides a clean, crisp, highly detailed view of the Smith River from the Camp Baker boat launch (put in) to the Eden Bridge boat launch (take out). Not only is this map a beautiful piece of artwork that you can hang on your wall, it also gives you the opportunity to explore the Smith River from home, and dream about or plan your upcoming float trip!
Floating the Smith River
This incredibly detailed (1 inch = 1 mile) Smith River float map shows the locations of all 53 boat camps along the 59 mile stretch Smith River from Camp Baker to Eden Bridge. Our unique Smith River Boat Camp locator table makes this map an incredibly useful planning tool for your next trip. Using the locator to help quickly identify the location of each boat camp on the map, it’s official FWP River Miles, river mileage between each camp, and cumulative river mileage from put-in to take-out. We’ve even included a handy “check box” so you mark off all of the camps you’ve stayed at or visited.
Smith River public access
Features shown on this map include all public land ownership (USFS, BLM, State), boat camps, river miles, and boat launches from Camp Baker to Eden Bridge. Campsite labels are hand-placed to ensure minimal overlap and maximum readability.
